Focus on Exceptional Client Service
The procurement of legal services should not be an intimidating process. We want you to feel welcomed, appreciated and understood. We want to provide you with regular communication, compassion, and useful information to allow you to achieve your goals and objectives. Indeed, Doug Chan, the principal lawyer of Chan Law, was recognized in the 2017 Waterloo Region Record Reader Awards, when he won Gold in the Favourite Lawyer category.
We welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and to deliver the best client service in the legal industry.
Fair Legal Costs
At Chan Law, we strive to provide high quality legal assistance at a reasonable cost. We are able to provide a fixed and all-inclusive price for many of our services, such as standard purchase and sale real estate transactions, the preparation of a will, and the handling of an uncontested divorce.
For other services that may be billed on an hourly basis, we offer a competitive and fair rate. Furthermore, we are also committed to bringing sensibilities and practicality to our hourly billing practices as we do not nickel and dime our clients for every little thing. If our clients want to spend a few short minutes providing an update to our office on the phone or wish to send a quick inquiry via e-mail, they can do so freely and without fear of being charged from the very first minute they communicate with our office. We want to provide an open door to encourage our clients to ask any questions and to stay in touch and communicate with us on a frequent basis.
Remote Appointment Locations & Evening and Weekend Appointments
While it is generally preferable to meet with clients at our office, we understand that there may be occasional situations when a client is unable to attend at our office during normal weekday business hours. At Chan Law, we are pleased to be open and flexible towards the idea of making appointments during more non-traditional hours, such as in the evening and during the weekends, where it is necessary to do so.
In addition, there may be occasions where a client may be unable to travel to our office at any time due to mobility or health issues, or where it may be logistically easier to meet in another part of town. In such cases, we can certainly consider conducting a meeting outside of the office in a location that is more convenient, whether it be a client’s workplace or home.
If you think that you may need some accommodations in order to set up an appointment, please speak to Doug Chan and he would be happy to find a suitable time and place to meet that works for everyone involved.
We are pleased to provide the services of a translator upon request in meetings with our clients at no additional cost for those clients who may need or wish to speak in Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese to a member of our office about a client’s legal matter.
